EDITORIAL

Insect infestation is a major problem for stored grain. They cause quantitative & Qualitative losses as kernels are consumed by insects. Moreover organoleptic properties are affected by physical damage and contamination by faeces, webbing and body parts of insects, respectively. Therefore development & advancement in detection technologies is must to minimize these losses. Insect infestation can cause huge economic losses to a country and also contribute in shortage of quality food grains.
The developed technologies should be such that those must be highly sensitive as well as affordable. Volatile content detection and odour detection are important techniques to assess quality of the grains. Enzyme Linked Immuno Assay (ELISA) has been a very sensitive method for detection of insect infestation and validation of these methods is all the more important. Here we present paper on validation of Elisa technique.
