Abstract

The present study investigated the antibacterial activity of leaf extracts of Rhizophora mucronata and Salichornia brachiata using ethanol against shrimp pathogens such as Vibrio harveyi, Vibrio vulnificus, Vibrio alginolyticus, Vibrio anginllarum and Vibrio lohi and fish pathogens such as Bacillus subtilis, Serratia sp. Aeromonas hydrophila, Vibrio harveyi and Vibrio parahaemolyticus. The Salichornia brachiata possessed higher antibacterial potency than the Rhizophora mucronata, with the highest activity recorded against shrimp pathogens of Vibrio alginolyticus (14 mm) and fish pathogens of Vibrio parahaemolyticus (15 mm).
