EDITORIAL

Bauhinia acuminata is a species of flowering shrub native to tropical southeastern asia. It is widely cultivated throughout the tropics as an ornamental plant. The bark, flower and root of the White Orchid-tree plant is used for various skin diseases, worms, tumor and diabetes. Keeping the medicinal value in view, its anti inflammatory activities were studied by the authors and are published here.
Sterodorial saponins are also known to possess many bioactivities and are of huge clinical significance. A novel steroidal saponin was extracted and reported from Euphorbia hirta.

In another article, anti diabetic activity of an ayurvedic formulation Thottal Vadi Choornam is reported.
