Chalcones constitute one of the important classes of anticancer agents that have shown promising therapeutic efficacy in the management of human cancers. In the present investigation eight new chalcone derivatives were prepared by the Claisen–Schmidt condensation of different ketones and appropriately substituted aldehydes. The compounds were re-crystallized using rectified spirit. All the compounds were characterized by detailed spectroscopic (IR, 1H NMR, Mass) analyses. The in vitro cytotoxic studies of the title compounds were carried out using different cancer cell lines; prostrate (PC-3), colon (COLO-205), ovary (OVCAR-5), liver (HEP-2) and neuroblastoma (IMR-32) cancer cell lines and reported in terms of percentage inhibitory concentration and IC50 Values (µM). The results of cytotoxic evaluation shell be presented.
