Abstract(RBIP-98)

The purpose of stability testing is to provide evidence on how the quality of a drug substance or drug product varies with time under the influence of a variety of environmental factors such as temperature, humidity and light. Sustained release tablets of Aceclofenac are available in the Indian market but are not official in The Indian Pharmacopoeia. Therefore a constant surveillance on marketed Aceclofenac tablets by the government, manufactures and independent research groups is essential. The present investigation was done on locally marketed Aceclofenac sustained release tablets, to study the effect of temperature and relative humidity on the chemical and physical stability of tablets. Four marketed brands of Aceclofenac sustained release tablets selected from the Indian market in different packaging were subjected to accelerated conditions of temperature and humidity (40°C ± 0.5°C at 75% RH) for 90 days. The tablets were subjected to In-vitro parameters viz Appearance, Assay, Dissolution test, Hardness, Friability.
