Abstract (RBIP-44)

The brain is a delicate organ, and nature has very efficiently protected it. The brain is shielded against potentially toxic substances by the presence of blood brain barrier (BBB) and the blood cerebrospinal fluid barrier (BCSFB). Various drugs like antibiotics, anti-neoplastic agents, and a variety of central nervous stimulants can’t easily enter into brain because of this barrier. Therefore various strategies like liposomes, colloidal drug carrier, micelles, intranasal and olfactory route of administration and nanotechnology have been proposed to favour brain drug delivery. The present review concentrates on all the novel drug delivery carriers that help cross BBB for drug delivery
